Story of A Blogger and Tips for Aspiring Content Creators
Thank you for this leap. |
Update: As of April 22, 2020, the pageviews of this blog reached 2,000+. I'm not bragging. I just want to let you know that I am grateful that you are here. I hope you are doing well in this trying time.
Tip: I know your time is precious, so I highlighted (in several colors) the passages I like that you may also like. And bolded, underlined, or italicized those I think are the important words or phrases.
Thank you for embarking on this journey with me. I want to share a tale, not of fame and fortune, but of persistence and unexpected discoveries. It's a story that, like a hidden gem, has gradually caught the attention of readers like you, and I'm truly grateful for that.
My Dream
Let me take you back to a time when dreams were as abundant as the stars in the sky. As a young soul, I harbored aspirations of becoming a singer, a ballerina, an actress, a pianist, a chef, and even a doctor. But my father, ever the realist, deemed these dreams too costly for our humble means. So, with a heavy heart, I shifted my focus to academics, determined to excel in every endeavor.
I was known for my meticulous nature, a trait often labeled as perfectionism. I feared making mistakes, partly because I believed I'd face consequences for them, especially when seeking help from my father with challenging school subjects. This fear left a deep imprint on me, and I resolved never to burden him again. It was a challenging path, but I persevered and learned to love the solitude of independent learning.
My passion for solitude grew, and I found solace in my room, where I poured my thoughts onto the digital canvas. Writing became my sanctuary, a place where I could dissect the world's issues and contemplate solutions. That's why, despite doubts and a previous declaration that I might stop blogging, I kept going.
One of the reasons was the unexpected rise in viewership, with 936 readers at the time. My blog had become AdSense-eligible, a dream I had initially shelved due to the cost of buying a domain name. Money was tight for me as an unemployed individual, and I explored alternatives like WordPress, only to find it both expensive and complex.
Creating and maintaining the blog had its challenges. In my country, internet access wasn't free, and free WiFi was scarce in my area. To sustain the blog, I needed an income, so I found a job. However, my office responsibilities left me mentally drained, and I sought creative ways to relax, such as photo and video editing. Vlogging emerged as my focus, and I even posted a blog/vlog announcing my farewell.
Then, a stroke of luck changed the game. While navigating my Blogger account, I stumbled upon the word "Earnings" and discovered I was eligible to display ads on my content. Excitement surged, and I promptly registered for an AdSense account, although it took some time before ads appeared on my blog.
Monetizing content proved to be a challenge, given the vast sea of information and growing aversion to ads. I, too, seldom clicked on ads unless they truly intrigued me. The content creator's story mattered to me, and I supported those who shared my passion for making a positive impact.
My contract ended, and I chose not to renew it, trusting a long-awaited job opportunity would materialize. However, fate had its plans. While I waited, I continued creating and sharing blogs and vlogs, hoping my content would touch someone's life.
Tips to aspiring content creators.
Now, as a fellow content creator, here are some tips I've gleaned from my journey, which may help you on yours. It can be challenging, especially without a support system, but I built this blog from scratch, learning through exploration and the occasional guidance from Google. I haven’t communicated to anyone in the support group or the community created for creators. Deep inside, I am really shy and I doubt my creations (I just sound confident in my way of writing). I am still afraid (that even today, I'm still thinking if I'll delete this blog or not) to show my content to the world because of my fear of being negatively criticized, but that’s normal (as most famous people say). So I ignored my fears and continued publishing to be viewed by the public. I started sharing my content on my social media accounts that my family and even friends are not aware of. I do not know why, but I just want to remain anonymous. Unfortunately, people nowadays do not trust creators without identity, so I started revealing my face and sharing my personal stories. I think that has helped in the increase of my blog’s viewers. Google has included my articles in the search results too (probably by Google Search Console) and I made some efforts by leaving some (useful) comments on some content (I like) of other creators too. I linked this blog to almost all of my secret (to my circle) social media accounts. Those who have noticed my comments (might include you) probably checked out my profile and clicked the link (as shown in the “Stats” under “Top Referrers). "Others" has the biggest number (824). I don't know who or what these "Others" are, but I am truly grateful to these "Others" and of course to everyone who has been (or is) here.
If the article I read about Blogger Stats (BS) vs. Google Analytics (GA) is factual, my real stats (on GA) are disappointing because it was said that robots and search crawlers visit multiple times each day and BS includes those visits. But that fact can't stop me from creating content unless somebody (with credentials) who has read this blog says so. Until then, I will continue publishing, editing, and improving my blog posts.

Based on my observation, funny content and talk about celebrities is the most viewed type. The majority of netizens like content that does not give them a headache, and they can relate.
If you want to create content that will trend, you have to know what’s on-trend today and in the coming days (this means you must always connect to the internet and be updated often if not always). Use words (keywords) that are widely used (you can search "top keywords") and make sure your content can be easily understood. Never create content with false information (if you want to have loyal readers/followers). Post your content at the right time. Look at the “Stats'' section and you’ll find the popular hours of your content, but sometimes it varies, but I think the best hours are on rest periods (around 12:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m., and after 5:00 p.m.) especially if your content is targeted to students and employees. Timing is one of the keys to getting many views especially if you are a starter and using a hashtag (#) that is trending at that moment can be very helpful. The social media you’ll use in sharing your content plays a critical role. One of the top referrers in my blog is Twitter (#hashtag and timing played a vital role in the increase of my blog’s viewers). It’s important to be updated with the global trends (or issues) and create content related to those trends if you want to have a variety of viewers.
But, for me, the goal isn't merely to chase trends. It's about promoting my advocacy, sharing my writing talent, and, hopefully, receiving something in return, like AdSense earnings. Monetization aside, the real reward is knowing my content has made a positive impact on others.
So, with every increase in blog viewership, a smile graces my face. It's a step towards becoming better and serving a purpose in this world. Increased earnings, when they come, will provide opportunities to continue this journey of self-expression and impact.
As you read these words, I hope you're inspired, whether you're a seasoned content creator or just starting your adventure. Remember, every story, like mine, has its unique twists and turns. Embrace them, for they are the threads that weave the tapestry of your journey.
