Greetings,
It’s been nearly a year since my last update on this blog, and what a year it has been! I’ve experienced a whirlwind of emotions and new experiences, including the sweet taste of romance. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned my NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth) status here, but it’s not a secret. I bring it up now because it ties into the main theme of my journey.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve dreamt of becoming a businesswoman. However, this dream didn’t align with my parents’ aspirations for me. Being the stubborn daughter that I am, I chose to follow my heart and pursued a course related to business (a story I shared in a previous post).
In secret, I continued to learn and build a business, grateful for the developers who made it possible to establish an online presence. From the day I graduated, I encountered numerous trials and errors in my quest to realize my dream. I quickly learned that it was impossible to do it alone. So, I focused on my job in the local government and furthered my education.
Last year, I fell in love. I never believed in the saying “love is blind” until Cupid’s arrow struck me. It was a wonderful feeling, at least until our first month as an official couple. I had thought he would be my first and last, my forever. But we were incompatible. We had different priorities, and neither of us was willing to compromise. I had hoped to build my dream business with him, but our love story ended in November.
When December rolled around, I decided to leave the heartache behind and focus on self-improvement. I set goals for 2024, one of which was to increase my income to afford law school tuition in 2025. I crafted plans and acted on them, keeping myself too busy to entertain negative feelings. However, my body and mind began to protest, and I feared I might slip into depression again.
Fortunately, I received a message from a Shopify Developer. At first, I was skeptical, but his consistent delivery of quality work convinced me to trust him. On January 18, 2024, I launched my business, and the Shopify Developer became my business partner. As I prepare for the Real Estate Brokerage Licensure Exam in April, he’s diligently working to understand the apps we want to add to our shop for customization. I don’t know him on a personal level yet, but I trust his actions until proven otherwise.
I once thought that online business was easier, but this journey almost led me back to depression. Thankfully, someone believed in my ideas and has been persistently helping me achieve our shared goal.
Here’s to hoping we succeed. Insha Allah.
