An Employee’s Journey: A Message to Her Employer

This poem is based on my first job experience (click/touch the colored words to see the essay version). I was so young ( I was 21), and innocent about corporate life that time that I easily gave up.

This is a continuation of the poem " A Job Seeker's Journey" (click the title to see).

An Employee’s Journey

At last I'm employed!
The words I said were, " I'm Excited!"
Thank God my prayer was granted.
That day, my life completely changed.

I remembered it was afternoon.
I arrived at the rented room at noon.
I dressed up to be there soon.
Then I emailed you for confirmation.

I waited for your reply at a mall.
Sitting on a chair uncomfortable.
Patiently, I waited, looking tall.
But now in your office, I'm so small.

I'm the employee and you're my employer.
Becoming a boss is a dream that doesn't matter.
As long as I can help your company to be greater.
That's all I want as an achievement-oriented dreamer.

Yes, I believe I have impressed you.
But I think my colleagues are jealous too.
I worked really hard not to impress you.
I did my best to fulfill my promise to you.

It's been more than a month since I left your company.
With all my outputs, you still considered me as a trainee.
I may be a new (in fact, it was just a month) employee.
But the strategies I made can give long term positive results when applied successfully.

I hope one day you can see that my purpose is pure.
All I want is to help in making your company bigger.
It's not about "millennial issues" that I decided to leave and shed a tear.
It's all about my purpose that may disappear.
